The Importance of a Healthy Colon

Your Colon Needs You

A critically important aspect of digestive health is to keep your colon clear of old rotting food and waste to prevent the build up of dangerous toxins through your entire body.

As food moves from your small intestine into your large intestine (colon), it resembles a porridge-like substance.  Your colon’s job is to store, process and get rid of the sludge, ideally 2 – 3 times a day.

This process of breaking down food and absorbing nutrients is improved by friendly bacteria, commonly known a probiotic, which also helps to protect the lining of your gastrointestinal (GI) tract.  Once the friendly bacteria do the job, it’s time for the waste to move OUT of your body.

With good healthy digestion, it takes about 16-20 hours to process a meal, so you can have two or three meals processing through at the same time.

But if you are suffering from digestive issues, researchers have found out that it can take up to 96 hours to get your poop out from just one meal.  So your overextended colon can be trying to push out EIGHT meals at the time and in the process the colon becomes a breeding ground for harmful bacteria.

Bad bacteria is multiplying, breeding more bad bacteria.  Sedentary bacteria stuck in your system can weaken the cells in your colon walls allowing toxins to leak into your circulatory system.

A big study of over 4,500 adults exposed a shocking link between clogged up bowels and major heart problems.  Constipation requires straining and can put the cardiovascular system at risk by raising the blood pressure, according to a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.

In addition, another huge study of 3.5 million veterans over a period of seven years showed that constipation led to 13% higher incidence of kidney problems.

The New York Times also reported that the more severe their constipation, the more your health is in danger!

Here come the “conventional wisdom” of fiber and stool softeners to get relief from constipation.

My personal experience is that by consuming regularly on the daily basis more raw foods – vegetable and fruit will do the job.  But I mean lots of them.

In addition taking high quality probiotic will make huge difference.
